Remy at the Stand

By 8 a.m. yesterday the big orange tent was up at the corner of Fell and Masonic with SF Bike Coalition volunteers ready to greet bicyclists on the Panhandle Path. It was another October GAS FREE FRIDAY sponsored by SFBC to encourage San Franciscans to give up driving one day a week. Several SFBCers served coffee and granola snacks to thank the cyclists who chose exercise over congestion and exhaust for the day.

Lots of folks from NOPA gathered to ward off the morning chill. Among the volunteers: Mark Christiansen, Mariana Parreiras, Dale Danley, Dan Nguyen-Tan, Patricia Decker, and Diane Grierman. And several very supportive nearby neighbors: Cheryl Brinkman (team leader), Ben Caldwell, Nancy Botkin, and Susan King. And our extra helpful, special man with a stand: Remy Nelson, owner of Mojo Bicycle Cafe.
